stationGreat contribution. Did you take any close shots of the internals? Also, I'm not sure but has there been any description of the jet numbers on this forum? It'll add value to this thread.

I found this was a perfect cure for the random idling issues - pressing the pedal in often had the idle surge to 2,000 rpm. Pressing the throttle closed on the carb returns it back to normal. Without fully checking what is causing this, I found this fixed it. The pedal is a tiny bit stiffer, but honestly feels better. The hook on the bottom isn't used on UK cars. I decided the gasket was too thick on the top half of the carb, so used some thinner stuff. This stuff was the half the inside cut-out when a gasket was made for an old Cadillac sump. It's 1mm thick, just like the original stuff. I used a hold punch and a sharp knife to cut it out. Hold the gasket material against the carb surface and use a crayon to mark it out. You can then use a knife and scissors to cut out the sections, using the hole punch for corners and bolt holes. Changing the jets: Don't lose your bolts, or where you're meant to put them - cut out the shape of the carb and stick the bolts through it: Autochoke mechanism - bye! A more simplified version of the Hitachi carb with choke removed - I will post up converting to manual choke tomorrow:

Will find out tomorrow - it has all this data in the workshop manual. I could scan some pages in if anyone needs any?

Are you referring to the throttle return spring? If so, I guarantee UK Hitachis all had throttle return springs. I don't mean any offense by this, but I don't think adding your carb explorations and learning experiences should be added onto Dunk's Carburetor Mods thread. It would be much more appropriate if you started your own thread about your learning experiences. Guides should be written after you have done a thing enough times to be proficient enough to provide an efficient how-to. There is nothing wrong with your postings, they're just in the wrong place.

Stop diluting the thread Ferox. You should take your own advice. Stop posting misinformation on Dunk's Guide thread and I will stop correcting you. Again, the content you are posting should be in your own thread.

I apologise for Ferox's interruptions everyone. I'm really posting this up here to help people, which I think I have. Can mods clean this thread up please? (FAO Ferox, I've blocked your posts so please don't waste your time with pointless critisism), or move my posts into a new thread? Thanks!
