Isn't that the title of a song from the Beatles White album?
This will be a long post as I have decided to tell why I have purchased 3 justy's this year alone. My very first Justy, the dark grey one pictured below was starting to get really rusty and a little worse for wear: Totally blown rear shocks/struts,a fragged front cv joint and a rear one with no boot.I was driving it to work in 4WD as obvouisly it wouldn't move in just front drive. It really owed me nothing as it got me to work for quite some time as well as allowing me to beat on it mercilessly at our winter gravel Auto cross racing.
The next Justy was the same:A 4 door ECVT 1.2EFI 4WD,except that it is white. It ran great for a couple of months until the rebuilt tranny gave up the ghost suddenly. Turned out to be a common type of failure with the ECVT. The C clip holding the central driveshaft for the main pump in the tranny snapped off. This allowed the shaft to back up into the crankshaft disengaging from the pump and a total loss of pressure. This is an easy fix if you dont mind taking out the motor and tranny to replace a $2 clip.Instead I decided to install the complete motor and tranny from the old grey car and then using the motor in my latest pride and joy. A Standard tranny super light 88 2 door 4wd. Maybe not Super light but it is over 200lbs lighter than my other Justies. And did I mention that it is a STANDARD.this was my summer get to work car. However I planned on doing a few changes before the Winter Autocross season started.
Still need to get to work so I needed to finish the transplant of the engine tranny from the old grey into the white four door car. I did that and started working on the 88 2 door (Now it's not running).Anyway......This Thursday Iam late for work and Decided to make use of the lite traffic on our version on an interstate or Autobahn and find out if this car has the same top speed as the other one with the exact same engine. Worked the terrain and got it up to 135KPH, not bad as it generally would easily go up to 125 and then lay over. Okay so far so good, I stand on the pedal and it rev's up like it has down shifted into passing gear and slows down to 125 KPH. I take my turnoff and while waiting for the traffic light the warning light and buzzer for tranny temp goes off. This has happened before when playing around in the deep snow (as in stuck) so Iam not too concerned. After work the buzzer goes off soon after driving and it startes to slip and act weird on shifts. Now Iam concerned. Anyway I was lucky to make it home and the next day while going on an errand the tranny started slipping more and more to the point of no go at all.Now to be fair this tranny probably has well over 300,000 kilometers on it and they were not that gental at that. So what to do, I have no running Justy's and I will need to get to work on Monday! Well after dragging the white one home on a chain with the Family Suburban we go grocery shopping and late Friday night I buy the Sweetest Justy I have ever seen in person
It is also the newest, most expensive $500 Canadian pesos Justy I have bought. I usually only pay $300. Besides being relatively rust free it is air conditioned, has Tinted windows and a striking metalic powder blue factory paint scheme. Something I think only came in the 95 model year.It is a 4 door which is good as once I get my 88 running this will be my wife's little runabout. Oh and did I mention that it is a STANDARD !!
