Well I'm gonna make this project as easy as possible to switch back to the original, so that when it's time for the yearly check (don't know what you call it) I hook up the original manifold, carb etc. Of course it's possible to pass those yearly tests/check, but it's like trowing dices, and if you get caught with it you have to restore it anyway and pay for one more time.
But then they usually don't really care if you have done some changes here and there, if it's been seriously done...

Continued on the manifold today... Made a collector, not the prettiest thing you have seen, but it works Almost done, ran out of materials. I will buy more bends for the last pipe in a few days...

Well it's been a while since this rolling curse have done something, so instead someone smashed up one of my headlights. Ordered one I found from a scrapyard across the country for around $89, so I'm really happy now.....NOT!! $89??? Jeez man, you can buy one here in Canada for $10. I'm really enjoying your thread and all the pics. keep it up, thanks.

Well about that headlight. I ordered it, but it never came. Instead I bought one in of the same car that I got the hood from, and it cost $25, good quality too

Is that a sealed beam or does it have a H4 replacement bulb? -Terry

You mean the thing that's infront of the bulb? Well I have no idea, but right now I'm using 80/100W bulbs for better light

Well. Do the bulbs come out of the glass housing? (the part that got smashed) Or is the part that got smashed a sealed unit with a filament inside? -Terry

Ah, I just assumed it was a sealed beam as on my 88. Maybe they were different in Europe?
BTW, terry, thanks for the tranny mount. Got it installed and it made for a less herky-jerky ride. My old one was wasted.
And ultima...man...build is looking good. Loving the look of the new exhaust header!

Ran into some damn problems today. If you look at the pics below you see the engine mount where the last pipe was suppose to go, and there's no damn way you could make anything fit... So now I'm thinking about cutting up the pipe in the collector and weld on a bend right from the bottom of the flange, to make it able to fit.

Update! I were getting progress on the manifold, when I yesterday got a thought: "will the oil return be steep enough?"... It turned out that it would need to go almost horizontal to the oil pan, which is NOT an option. So, back to the start again (well almost). I'm gonna make it like I was gonna do at first, with the turbo flipped the other way, and higher up. Looks really messy, and it's really tight, but it will probably be great! The hose that's originally from the Trendy also fit perfectly on the turbo inlet Made some space for the air filter I'm gonna use, just have to make a new bracket to the water-whatever-you-call-it-in-english

Looks good ultima! exiting build and great to see som progress.
Dont forget that i have a spareparts car with cheap parts, so you can check with me if you think the price from the scrapyards is too high.

The manifold design is done! The manifold will be wrapped in exhaust bandage to keep the heat away. What do you think?

What do you think? Thing of beauty. I love the compact, 'equal length pipe' looking design. Looks like a turbo that's been gift wrapped in pipe! Can't wait to see it welded up and installed. Nice going!

Thanks Well I tried to make the pipes in equal length, but the one that's closest on the photos did get a little shorter, however I don't think it'll make any big difference.

Tried it out today ;D It's really tight at the cooler, grill and at two spark plugs, but it will work

Use Lexus spark plug wires.. they're 4 or 5mm. Then build a bracket to hold them to the valve cover. What kind of clearance you got on the wastegate can? Looks like its touching ..! Remember its a rubber diaphragm in there. -Terry

I'm gonna make a bracket for the spark cables to the valve cover, and yes the clearance is really small. Hopefully the exhaust bandage will keep it from too much heat.
