The filter and pump are located together. On mine they are underneath the left side of the car under a panel just in front of the rear wheelwell, with three screws holding it in. If yours is a left hand drive it may be on the other side so check both.

if it is fuel injected...the Pump is in the tank.
You need to remove the rear seat, and there is an access plate, with like 3 philips screws.
The fuel filter is under the car, it is right infront of the driver's side (LHD) rear tire.

Im just trying to change the filter but I'll still need to access the fuel pump to dislocate the wiring and crank the engine a few times to remove the pressure to the fuel filter right? So that means accessing the pump by removing the back seats? Then the fuel pump is under the little panel? Ill take a look tomorrow. The chilton repair manual didnt even come close to explaining any of that. By the way I have the 2dr or 3dr whatever you consider it. This should be a 15 min. job once I find the darn thing. if it is fuel injected...the Pump is in the tank. You need to remove the rear seat, and there is an access plate, with like 3 philips screws. if all you wanna do is change the fuel filter.
Look in the fuel pannel. there is a Fuel Pump Fuse. Just pull that fuse and crank the motor over a few times.
And no it doesn't matter if it's a 3 or 5-door.
Just pull out the back seat, and on the driver's side there is a panel....just undo the 3 screws, and tehre is a 4 wire plug. just un-plug that

Yup, it was all just where you said. I had to run to the auto parts store to get black fuel tubing. Not cheap at Pep Boys...$3.99 a foot. Replacement hose clamps $2.99 for two sets (4 clamps). ouch. The hoses where really hard to get off to. I didnt know which tube was going to start pouring fuel everywhere next. I disconnected the pump and let the engine run til it died first, Id hate to see what would have happened if I didn't. I still need to replace the hose going from what looks like the gas tank to some other pipe, pretty basic but I decided to wait until the tank is as empty as possible. hopefully that will keep the tank from dumping out.
One Problem Though: I over wrenched one of the Bolts holding the fuel filter on being the Dip$#it I am. I know over tightenings a big dont but I just couldnt help myself. WHat the hell do I do? Im thinking drill into it with a small bit and then do what? Someone else did the same thing to the manifold cover so I need to fix that one too.
