Alright - I have a 1992 subaru justy MPFI 1.2L Standard Transmission.
I use it for commuting but I have began to love the thing. I learned to wire in my own stereo ( have full wiring diagram schematics if you like) and i've learned to fix the odd thing here and there to keep her going.
I travel 120K (both ways total) back and fourth to work each day. I've got 184,000 Kilomitres on it.
Anyway.. last night I went over to my fiance's parents place and I accidentally touched the "red button" 4wd. The previous owner had told me never to push that button because it's hard to get it out of 4wd.
Reading this forum you'll find out that the 4wd button is controlled by a vaccum solenoid on the firewall below the wipers. It's easy to access.
A secret on this board saved my life and got the car back to 2wd mode like i always have enjoyed it.. (However - once you learn it - 4wd is easy to go back to)..
Anyway. for the next person who gets stuck with a dead solenoid where the transfer case won't come in or go out of 4wd, i have some pictures of the process of getting it in permanent 4wd or permanent 2wd (As i like it.. no tools required.)
See www.answerswanted.com/justy/

permanent 2wd vaccum hose hookup. The vaccum supply (coming off the MPFI manifold (big silver thing) is hooked directly to the transfer case left hose.

shows the stock (from factory) hookup supposing your solenoid that switches 4wd off and on is working, leave it this way.

another view of the stock (from factory) hookup.
High resolution photos may take time on dialup. 2.3mb each.
