My great idea is this:
Add a spring loaded switch onto the ebrake handle such that when you grab the handle the switch is depressed shutting off the 4wd.
After your Uturn is completed release the handle, lift off the throttle and 4wd is restored. Bada-bing-bada-boom.
The vacuum assist bottle would help this idea out a great deal.

I still think setting it up with a solenoid and having it power a timer/delay relay switch would work better... that way you can have it set up so that when you release the e-brake... you still are in 2wd until you are fully thru the turn... or not.

i been thinking of this for a while. i just need to find the right switch.
It would be very easy to do. As the current 4wd switch. just complete the ground to either the "2wd solenoid" or "4wd solenoid"
you just need another 3 way switch.
I've already installed a simple ON-OFF-ON switch on the dash. as i installed an aftermarket shift knob.

this is funny! it would work...and be easy to do... im just wondering if you mite have problem if you do it at speed ? i dont know...im a litle paranoid whit the 4wd button...i only play whit it wen im stoped....it made some creapy noise wen it did it wen the car was mooving...the guy hoo sold me the car is working at subaru and told me to do the switch at very slow speed... on a otter note...i find the hand brake turn is not very efficiant(rally driver use it almost exclusively on tarmack and Holyshit situation )...noting beat a good pendulum to impress the crowd ;D doing the proper weigth shifting and left foot braking will do much better...then just ramming the ebrake... but doing this litle swicth to ebrake mod is pretty cool...

Damian, You can go into into 4wd at any time, you just have to remember that Justys don't have center diffs, just make sure you are pointed in a straight line for a little bit. If the front diff and the rear propshaft are at different speeds you will feel a large clunk. Clunks are always bad, even if you speak French! ;D What would be better for you would be a limited slip diff in the front. I haven't taken apart my extra trans to see if another unit could be installed in there. Remember that you can't run it in production (not that we would tell any one!) If a LSD can't be sourced, we might have to settle for a PhantomGrip. Grinner would say "you should use a the tranny from a 323 GTX", but that would be madness, sheer madness I tell you! Matthew

yes....LSD...oooo yes....
i dont know how thes thing work...and i dont know how we could have one made ? and of course... nobody could know... ;D
Im 100% shure that there is no performance part that were developed for a Justy....so...for a LSD it would have to be custome made...or custom fit..
but i do know..that it would make a incredible difference.

actually. i think a rear LSD is simple.
Late 1980's subaru's came with a LSD in RX Coupes and Sedans.
I believe it is the same r160 rear diff.
I have a r160 rear diff waiting to go into my car.
I think i'll need it with all the power i'll be making

You would be better off loooking for a rear diff from a Datsun/Nissan as they are the same units as the Subarus. They are more plentiful and available.
Now, from what I think I remember from going thru one of my 323GTX trannies... is that my front diff and the center diff are 'joined' together sortof using spider gears. Since the Justy 4wd transmission is 'technically' a FWD transmission with a Propshaft off of the drive gear of the tranny... And that from what I have heard that it is a modified Suzuki Tranny... there are LSD's availible for alot of Suzuki models in Japan. There should be a way to get a Suzuki LSD to fit into a Justy tranny. Heck, KAAZ makes a clutch plate type LSD for many Suzuki's... if you could have a Kaaz unit up front and a Kazz in the back... you would be looking at a very nice setup. That way... by using the button that engages FWD/4WD you would not have to worry about mis-spinning your connection. There are 5 companies that make Dog Gears for Suzuki's in Japan as they are rallied heavily over there... you could possibly have a very nice drivetrain set up... front/rear clutch plate diffs and a 'DogBox' gear set... I wonder how strong the tranny case is?

this would be sweet but the dogbox mite be a litle to much for production class...these trany are brutal.....and mite get expensiv...
but for the lsd ? i will look in to it... you never know ? i have acces to many used part...so it mite be possible to rebuilt one in to a lsd ?
whats Kazz ?
and wen you change to lsd do you have to change both? if not will the car drive funny of it will be ok ?

the problem with using a Datsun/Nissan rear diff is that the gear ratios are way off.
The Subaru LSD from an RX is 3.70 Ratio...exactly the same as a Justy.

Or brutal as they are easily breakable? Kaaz is a large Japanese differential company that makes competition clutch plate diffs for many Japanese performance cars... Imprezas, Lancers, Mazdas, Nissans... etc. I have an open diff in the front on my GTX with the open/closed center diff and on one of my GTX's I have a 4 pinion Group A competition rear Diff. The car is a lot of fun to drive and is easier to drive with the LSD in the back.

considering the purpose, slide the back end and slam out front, i had an idea trotting in my head for a while now considering this impossible LSD (i mean the diff. not the pill): why not separate the 2 handbrake cables at the handbrake handle by attaching one small motorbike brake handle and pod on each side of the handbrake handle working normally as one single unit using the original handbrake handle or separately by pulling each one alone (whitout any ratchet like an ordinary motorbike brake handle). This way the rear axle torque would be redirected on the other side wheel (as any ordinary open diff. relaying the available torque by the amount substracted from the braked side). Result: nice spin and tractor steering effect.
