just a random question still based around ECVT, what is the ECVT like? what does it perform like? The ECVT performance is generally better than the manual transmission equipped Justy's. I own four with the ECVT and three with the 5-speed so I speak from experience. Due to the extremely smooth nature of the ECVT most people think they feel slower than a more conventional transmission when in fact they're a little bit quicker. The neat thing about them is you can take off from a dead stop and reach highway speeds without the RPM's changing much, if any. The RPM's are proportional to the amount of throttle opening with a small increase as ground speed increases. If you floor the gas pedal at highway speeds the engine quickly revs to around 5800 and stays their as you accelerate until you back off the throttle. Passing power is definitely better then the 5-speed! Engine RPM at highway speeds is also a little LESS then the 5 speed so the gas mileage ends up being just as good. But like all things mechanical, if the ECVT isn't in good working order it can really be a frustrating experience. Every one I bought had something or another wrong with it which also made for a low purchase price : ) Once I got them working properly they quickly became my favorite. I'm keeping the 5-speed Justy's around in case I ever get the urge to turbocharge/Megasquirt one. The ECVT doesn't have any extra power handling capabilities.
