I'm trying to trouble shoot a hard starting problem. It started giving me trouble only when the engine was cold, but now it's very hard to start even when warm. It's an 89 with a Weber carb. Electric choke, choke pull off, and accelerator pump all working like they should. I installed a fuel pressure gauge in the dash. 3psi as soon as I turn the key on. As soon as the pump stops or I turn the key off, it immediately drops to 0psi. Is there a check valve somewhere that should keep pressure I the line?

Hey,
There is no check valve... and fuel pressure tends to drop below something your gauge would read as soon as the pump stops...
The pump is just there to get fuel into the bowl, and has nothing to do with the "injection" of the fuel, so as long as you have fuel getting to the bowl...
