Hello everybody, I've been off the forums for a while but I've been thinking about you guys. So my justy had a very annoying rattle when I purchased it and I traced it to the steering rack it seemed like the inner tie rod. Under further investigation I found that it was not the inner tie rod but a bushing in the rack housing that had fallen apart over time. For a quick fix I just found a better condition used one to put in while I thought about a repair for the original. So now my replacement rack is beginning to do the same thing, that meant it was time to actually do something. My friend had a nice thick piece of nylon I could use to make a new bushing and I only really had hand tools to do anything so this is what happened. I will admit there was a little more clearance between the bushing and the rack ,the moving part, than I wanted but way better than the old. Havent put it in yet but I cant wait, it should be smooth as silk.
