Hi all. My subaru J10 (not ecvt) starts well and can be driven without problems for short distances, but when it warms up it starts misfiring and then goes to a halt (stalls). As soon as it cools down it starts immediately and drives without problems until it warms up again and starts knocking then halts. I have replaces sparking plugs, air filter, and cleaned ignition coil (blue one) and ignition cables. Can anyone illuminate me on this problem please. Thanks

Welcome to the Forum, all the way from Malta! I have a feeling that your car has a carburetor fuel system. is this true?

Sorry for the delay in answering. yes of course it has a carburetor. it starts missing as soon as it warms up. You wait for a few minutes until it cools down and starts without problems and the same happens. No electronics in the car like ecu sensors etc. Thanks.

Check the wire inside the dizzy cap that hooks up with a screw and nut to a black fitting. Make sure it is installed correctly otherwise it might be leaking spark to the housing of the dizzy . Btw jin malti ukoll Goodluck

Could the choke be the issue? The engine when cold the choke plate closes and when warm it gradually opens and stays open with vacuum.
