So I am planning on deleting the driver wiper and installing the motor from an XT to get the one armed action going.
I am a Rain-X guy, so the wiper is really more for bug guts than anything else. I can get the motor for $30, and I know I will need a different length arm/blade, but I am trying to figure out if there is anything else I would need to do. I am thinking that I will Bondo or rubber plug the driver hole.
What am I missing here?
Or... is there a way to modify the existing motor, as in stops for the left and right axis that can be modified? I originally thought about using a rear motor, but I don't think that has the sweep that the XT would have.

I don't get why not original wipers? Im with this comment, coemgen Post by coemgen on 4 hours ago Because there are no bones in ice cream. I think that didn't come out as intended but any way ... ... Why not just either take off the wiper arm or if you must have that "Look" then remove the drive hub that is splined for the wiper arm and the drive arm for just that part but leave the stock motor and arm for the drivers side in place. So what if the motor is located way over on the other side. I think the only difference from what you are proposing is only slightly heavier because the drive arm is longer than having the motor mounted right by the wiper.

There's no actual "stops" for the wiper motor. It works by having the revolving arm of the motors shorter then the driven arm of the wiper. Here's a nice little vid I found (gotta love Goggle ) www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-slfvB36DIIf you modified the length of either arms, for your purpose, lengthen the drive, or shorten the driven wiper, you would get more degrees of sweep before it went back the other way. But, um, why it means a longer time to clean the windshield, some weird wiper size, parts left unclean even with rain-x, I mean I get "the look" and all, but really. Try this instead!
