impeller was tight and coolant passage is open, tested the thermostat, didn't open fully till a rolling boil, no jiggle valve, runiing without it and have great coolant flow and heat. ground the impeller a bit to smooth out the rough casting. new and old impeller side by side new impeller after grinding with dremel

Been working alot and don't have much time for fixing...I've put about 400 miles on it since my last post and had to park it. Rear left wheel cylinder started leaking, broke front left strut mount, dimmer switch in the dash shorted out at night, blew the ignition fuse , blinding me with flash and wouldn't start. Pulled the switch and got it going again.I think it's burning coolant, rtv on the intake manifold might have been a bad idea...won't run under 1500 rpms, hard to start when cold outside, runs ok for an hour or so then dies, then won't start till it's sat for a few minutes. and now I've lost the only key for it....

My grey 1st gen, the daily driver, has gotten so rusty that water is coming in thru the wheel wells.

Sorry to hear about all your troubles earthbounding. Don't worry though your not alone after about 500 miles on a fresh rebuild I began burning coolant too ended up being the intake on mine as well. Now my right front bearings are screaming to be replaced my brake prop valve is pissing out fluid and I ripped my sweet a-- yoshimiura muffler off in the woods a few weeks ago. At least you drove it enough to fall in love and play through the pain. At least I hope you did .

found my leak, both carburetor gaskets and the spacer are soaked in coolant.

Do you think the head gasket is bad causing excess pressure and that's why it's puking coolant and popped the radiator?

It's possible. May be a bad gasket or clogged coolant passage someplace. I drove into town and back before i rebuilt the carburetor without overheating. Was letting it warm up to check timing, idle speed, etc. (96*f outside) when the reservoir started to bubble i cut the key off, the temp gauge was up to 3/4 and it blew out before i could shut the car door. cooling fan never came on (fan works, bad switch). running without a thermostat, no oil in the coolant, no coolant in the oil and don't see any gasket leaks on the engine. But it starts right away when you turn the key, it's never done that before

Man alive your Justy is testing your patience isn't it? Hopefully it was just a combo of poor air flow, high temp and pressure and an old weak radiator.
