Yep...
Little Justy made it through her and our first rally....
quite well indeed I think for the little car, and our inexperiance...
Suspension held up well for some small to medium jumps, car handled great...
Lots of things still to do, but for now... she works!

Another racing Justy! Congratulations on your first finish. I hope you can have podium places as well. If only Justy parts were cheap here in Turkey, I would be racing mine as well. I can go and buy a 1.6 Palio N2 car with the money I would spend on preparing my Justy.

Congradulation Matt
You did VERY well!!!!
from what i can see you did a very clean rally.
how did the suspension endle on big jump ?
i think that we need to work the damping for the big one...and for that there is only one solution....Bilstein.

Doit
Yep that was me... Thrusday night, pushing the non-starting Justy on to the trailer... Fuel started runing out otf the 'fixed' pin holes at the back of the tank!!!!
Dan found on at Tanks Alot for us... Dan and Frank are great when you need something fast! Tires, terratrip, fuel tanks...
Alain... the big jump... well we braked a bit for it, but the car didn't go back up in the air which suprised me, actually handled quite well, the worst part suspnesion dampenming wise was the rough parts... were the tires won't hold contact on rebound... but we just braked a bit.
Yep we ran a 'conservative' race... due to us... and catching the P2 car ahead three times befor the re-seed. Which was good, we knocked a minute off our stage time on the last stage when we got re-seeed and went 3/4 full out for the whole stage... beat a few other cars on that stage.... go JUSTY!!!!
Anyway gotta run, but back to rebuild and refine...

Congratulations!! on your finish. I know this is a big deal 'cuz last weekend we finished our first stage rally also. The Mountain Trials rally was the debut for us. We had nobody in P1 or P2 to run against so we had to hunt for P3. In the end we booked in 5mins early at the MTC and dropped from possible 11th to 13 of 14 finishers (19 started). Oh well, the plan was justy to finish, and besides, we finished in front of an RX-7. Not bad for a car that drove too and from the event.
It's great to see these little cars showing up on the stages. They can scare some big cars silly(like when it's downhill and twisty)! ;D

yeah those tires Rock! AO35's I think we could drive on the ceiling!!!
In all my years of playing in the dirt, in various cars... nothing comes close to the grip and handling of that car last week-end!
I'll just have to learn to keep my foot away from the brake... 'cause I just didn't need to touch it... even though my mind was saying "slow down you stoopid freak!"
Alain you were right about the syncros... even with heel toeing and blipping the throttle on non-braked down shifts... I think they're all gone now.... What tranny fluid do you run, I'm thinking about going to Redline?
Dan and that Swift were FAST... guess that's what real driving can do...
But the Justy's traction was amazing... getting out of corners with the foot down just clawing away at the ground!
I'm seriously hooked... Planning to be at Defi, Galway forest, and Pines.... Might hit Maine Forest just for fun (pricey entry though!)

Doit Careful...
By my understanding of the rules
First a turboed Justy would run in open class... because the car was never turbo'ed to begin with... meaning you'd be up against the likes of Thompson, Hendrickson, and Frank...
P4 is production class, meaning that the car is un- modified for performance, your not even allowed to change the turbo in a car that came with one, well you can replace it but not "change it" P4 cars are those with over 2001 cc of displacement, and has nothing to do with actually horsepower. I wouldn't have been able to put an intercooler in my old TurboGL (it would have been P3) if I had run it in production class (the car that was to be my first rallycar, lessons learned from reading the rulebook, and realizing the car was really full of rust!)
Lastly a turbo 4WD car must weigh at least 2500 lbs which kinda defeats the purpose of running a 1700 lb Justy when you would have to load it with 700 lbs of balast.
Download the regs and be careful, I know I sound "all knowing" for a newbie but many people have built rally cars they could never get a logbook for because they didn't read the rules and take their time.
On another note... I would love to see your turbo Justy cause as a street car, or rally-X that thing must be scary! Have you had any problems with drive axles busting? I'm trying to get my local driveline builder to build some indestructable ones... And what are you using for a clutch?

lucky bastard!! i wish my car was ready....i just got back from the BDC rally...what a torture I think Do It S is bulding a otter kind of subraru that will be P4....i would go for the open turbo justy..but ? its up to him i guess ? Our goal is still the pines....i really hope we can make it...i dont think i will ge able to spectate anylonguer... If you get some custome axle let me know how much they cost...i would be interested. for the cluch...i always keep it stock and berely never ad problem whit it.

to ad 700lbs to the open class justy... -built the shell to resist a nukular attack. -built a kick ass big cage... -run 4 rally tires+2 spairs(maybe 14"? if the car is open you can -make it as wide as you want and get more room for the bigger wheel) -fill up the gaz thank -get all your emergency tools in (cordless impact, hammer ect ect) + fluids (oil, prestone, brake ect) get a water spay systeme.... get a big water spay tank and fill it up. Built a big ass skid plate...for the front and the gaz thank. If this is not enoug...get a bigger turbo engine and drivetrain... if my shell and cage are well built and still in good shape...one day i mite get tired of p1 and get mad and transplante a Turbo Talon mecanic in that litle soap box....maybe not a talon engine? but something 4x4 and turbo...im shure that whit a bigger engine+mecanic (trany, suspension linkage, differential, brakes ect) the 700lbs would not be to hard to reach...that would be total madness....hehehehe...nothing is impossible and never say never

I heard BDC was great... although I'm sure it's tough to spectate once you've played....
Yes for turboing Justys to rally...scary as all hell...just the legitamicy of doing it and keeping the weight advantage....
or.......
run a 2.5 ltr NA out of an RS... all the fun limited slip junk and stuff out of an STI... shoe horn it in with a shortend drive line and run open class in a 250 HP 1800 pd car!!!!
I' think you'd have to put the rad and junk in the back... move the steering rack, and punch a huge hole in the floor/firewall for the the tranny, but in theory... power to weight could be better then the big turbo'ed boys... Finding somebody dumb enough to get in it wouldn't be hard, I'd anti-up to the challange...

No daman is right.
I'm prepping a 1985 Subaru RX Sedan.
It's a 1781cc, Turbocharged, 4wd with rear LSD.
Meaning that puts me in P4.
Turbo Justy is just a street car...for now...if they do end up running a rally-x series in Ontario, i'll run the justy..because i think it would scare alot of people, and probably be wicked fast.
I also run it occasionally in Nav. Rallies. some of the mini-rallies around here, and we ran Snowy Safari and Lanark Highlands in it this year (although it wasn't turboed then)
To put into perspective how quick it is....My friend has a 1991 Legacy turbo, with a JDM ej20 transplanted, when he's running 10 PSI. The justy will pull away from him slowly.
The justy will also pull on a stock WRX, and stick with a lightly modded one.
As far as clutch...i'm working on that. I have a flywheel that was machined down to 12 lbs sitting in the garage, i'm just working on a clutch. I've talked to Bully and they wanted like 700 bucks. I'm probably going to go out to Burlington and talk with the guys at Eurodrive to getting something made up, probably going to be a 4 puck, spring hub design.
Axles...i don't see a problem with them. they are almost identical to the one in my rally car, and we've had those cars make 150-160 hp.
Rallying is just generally harsh on CV's.
My suggestion for CV's. Go to Napa. buy lifetime warranty ones. and return them for new ones when they break.

are you saying that the weigth limitation is only if you have a turbo ?
well ? if its the case...a 2.5 rs mite be the answer hahahaha...i have a grinder...and a welder...i can do it ;D
Once your open you can take your dash and put it in the trash...moove all the cokpit backward to have a better center of gravety and have room for the bigger engine and tranny. Once its open its open..hehe you can put the radiators in the rear side windoz and make some grB style intake LOL ;D

Sorry about the confusion DoitS...
RX... drool, I wanted one back when I bought the GL, had planned on finding the bits... but rust and neglect took it's toll.. Where did you come across the car? Sedan you say to boot...
Daman, yeah, Section E open class vehicles.. (3) c "for turbo/supercharged four whell drive vehicles the absolute minimum real weight of the vehicle is set at 2700 lbs "
this ecludes the driver, co-driver and fuel, helmets etc.
so more then 2500 lbs but ...
nothing about NA vehicles...

bought the car from a guy in Brantford.
We picked it up for $350. It was originally a California car, has little rust, but needs a little TLC (driveshafts, brakes, engine)
It's an RX, but came with almost no options.
It has Manual windows, No Sunroof, No A/C and No Power Steering.
It should be a fun and competitive car when we get it done.

nice work with the justy... makes me proud As for ballast... load up 700lbs of water and have a huge intercooler "mister" (actually a gusher would be a more appropriate term) that'll use up 700lbs of water in about 2 minutes ;D
