Hello. So today was day 3 of working on my justy, I had this really bad oil leak and it looked like it was the head gasket, so I took it apart to replace the gasket, but come to realize that I also have bad valves. other than these forum, what other sources have you guys used to find parts. I'm now just planning on doing a whole rebuild. Thanks in advance. I own an 88 justy gl

cici,
where are you located?
rock auto has a fair bit of stuff.... last i checked they still had a cheap valve guide kit if you are in the states.

and further to that... support your local indie parts supplier.
i actually rarely order through rockauto as shipping to canada is ridiculous.
but i have a good reputation with a local shop and they can get most everything.
call around.
oh and pulling a manufactures part number from rockauto can help...

Hi madmatt
Thank you so much, I've almost ripped my hair out because I couldn't find a valve kit, and the only things I've found have been separate or not enough stuff in stock. eveyone has just been telling me to swap an rs motor into it, but I want to stay with my 3 cylinders and keep my justy original.

What is the issue with the valves?
You said oil leak... they don't leak oil but valve seals do.
Where is your oil going? outside the motor, or out the exhaust?
How did you diagnose all this?

I had an oil leak from a really bad head gasket. Since I just bought the car I wanted to see what I really got my self into. I took everything g apart and some of the valves are cracked, so I jus want to replace them all. I wish I could upload some pictures, but at this moment I cant. Also is 6 intake valves and 3 exhaust valves or is it the other way around?

Eyi Eyi Eyi!!!
That poor head...
Okay you got a bunch of problems, but nothing that can't be solved.
Show us some pics of the tops of the other two pistons, and shots of the bores.
That's an exhaust valve that is cracked, there are all sorts of potential reasons, but it looks like it was running hot. What plugs are you running?
the Number one cylinder is oily, looks like bad valve seals to me based on the oil on the intake valves, but somebody could tell me otherwise (blow by)
Even with the oil... looks like the motor was severely overheated at some point. Maybe Terry will chime in here, as he's likely seen a bazillion heads...
Sorry for my earlier post... you're not going to get valves from rockauto! but somebody here is likely to have a head and valves....I sold my last carb'd head a while ago, and I really don't want to part with any remaining head bits...

I don't know if it's over heated or what the problems where With it. I've had it for about a month now, but with my kids it's kind of hard getting work done on it. The seller I bought it from just had it in his yard, it took a while to start it and get it home, it didn't over heat on my way home, but after a couple of days from it being home it didn't start. I knew it had an oil leak from when I first saw it, so since it wouldn't start I decided that it was a good time to take it apart. Thank you for your help, it seems like a lot of people don't know justys, and it's hard to find parts. I own a Tribeca also wich is also hard to find parts for it sometimes. So I think I can say I'm used to these issues.

Rockauto.com does have valves. Like matt said, they're the best source for new parts. Dustysjusty.com or subarugenuineparts.com has some of the rarer stuff for a pretty penny if you get desperate.

Thank you Idikid87. I was Hong to get it up and running as soon as possible, but by the looks of it it might take a bit longer.
