Car coolerAnyone seen one of these before? They look really cool! I am looking for any tricks to keep the Justy cool in the summer. I've tinted the windows and added baby screens in the rear. It's illegal to tint the rear window in Massachusetts without a passenger mirror. I think it would be nice to have a unit I could remove when it gets cooler. I might even be able to make one of these...

evaporative coolers are also called "Swamp coolers" they only work with air passing through them. they cascade water down a finned surface and air passes through it. think of a radiator where the water runs down the outside.
that water cools the air that gets pushed into wherever. Big shops use these but they are equipped with a fan to pull air through. they also make everything horribly humid and moldy over time. really moist air.

in principle they are great.
their effectiveness is linked to the relative humidity... on a hot muggy day they are not nearly as effective as a dry Arizona scorcher...
in Massachusetts, you'll be hit or miss as to the days you will get much cooling effect. certainly cheaper than a/c!

You would be better off getting two rags and a bucket of ice water, put the cold rag on your testicles and swap rags as needed.
