Hello, I was wondering if you could put synthetic oil in the EF12-E? I tried searching on this forum for the answer and couldn't find it. I saw on dustyjusty that you shouldn't use synthetic oil without saying why. Service

its more about mileage and age than this specific car. its got steel sleeves and nothing special in the rings. some people dont think that synthetic works well in higher mileage cars or in older motors. Im one of them. i wouldnt personally switch over to synthetic from dino-based. the most id do, and in fact i do this, is run a blend. I personally have had excellent results with Valvoline Maxlife.

Thanks, and by blend you mean semi-synthetic?

Justy engines have recommended engine oils SAE 10w30 or 10w40. I actualy have Castrol Magnatec 10w40 inside but next year I want put there Castrol GTX 10w40 cause it is designed for engines over 100 000km and seems it is cheaper than Magnatec...

yes, blend = semi synthetic.
i pulled apart my old prelude motor to do a swap and some other things. it had FRM sleevs and was notorious for burning oil. i got hte car with 125Kmiles on the clock and opened it up with 188Kmiles. i used maxlife exclusively throughout my ownership. I could still see the factory cross hatching clearly and the valve stems were still soft. The car burned no oil between changes. I ran nitrous and was not nice to that motor and still had no issues.
