Hows it going guys, my beloved '89 4wd is in desperate need of a new windshield seal. The one on my car isn't original and leaks like a sieve when it rains. i've looked far and wide for one, but can't for the life of me find the oem part. i've gone to a glass place and they said they could try putting in a new universal seal, but due to the wider shape of the seal in the corners there would be a high likelihood of it leaking again. Does anybody happen to have one, or know of some shop or dealership that may have a forgotten stash? Thanks in advance

At least when we did mine (I know an employee at one of the local glass shops, so when I called up I specifically requested that he do my windshield) on my 94, it was urethane bonded not gasketed in place, the gasket is just decorative. If yours is the same you likely have a bond issue or a rusty bond flange that is letting water in, just as I did. It was an easy enough repair aside from the rust repair, only took about an hour and a half maybe two hours with a skilled glazier there to remove the old windshield. I did all the rust repair and assisted in installing the new one.
I can't guarantee an 89 is like my 94 in this respect but I believe the windshield install to be the same on both...

Boy, thank goodness you only need the seal. Try and find an actual windshield or replacement for a 1st or 2nd gen Justy!

The windshield glass is actually not that hard to come by, I have seen them for sale on various online parts retailer sites. Not cheap at $150 or so, but I am debating buying one to stockpile. If you live in an area where windshields suffer damage from gravel frequently it would be wise to either do that, or buy NASCAR style windshield tearoff films to use so you reduce the chances of an impact breaking the glass.
