Hello everybody,
Well I took the engine out of my ol' justy to do the clutch and change a few leaky seals/gaskets. I posted pictures of my bad clutch under projects, it has the title Here we go if you havent seen or are interested. Anyway One of the things on the list was oil pan gasket, while in there why not check the rod and main bearing clearances right? Well here comes the first question, I have a factory service manual for an 88 justy with the rod bearings specs of 1.487-1.497mm, .0585-.0589in and the main bearings at 1.505-1.508mm, .0593-.0594in. I went to check with my plastigage which did not 'squash' at all, that got me and my buddy looking online for the specs again to be sure about that and then for a thicker plastigage to measure it right. In doing so we found that on Dustys Justys they list a different spec. What have you guys used as the spec for your Justy engine rebuild?
As far as the balance shaft goes do I need to worry about any kind of a bearing or bushings it rides in. I've read Armageddous' thread and other things and know I should go ahead and replace the chain and guide. I'm confused when it comes to the blue or white guide still I under stand blue for old chain white for new but what if I used and blue and also The chain options on dustys justys why would I want gold links gold is soft?
I've got more questions but they are so many that I can't really think of any one to type now. I guess I'll start with these and well go from there. I feel positive now though that I have found my low oil pressure problem and my low end engine noise so this is a good thing, the bad I thought I was just checking the bearings changing the gaskets and clutch and going back together. There will be pictures to come Im snapping them off as I go.
Thanks for the help and if you have any opinions to share I am open to them.
