Hey folks, new to the justy crowd.
I've got an awd '88 justy and when I get around 4/5k rpms I start seeing black smoke coming out of the exhaust. Doesn't happen at start up or putting around, but when I'm getting up there it does. Any way I can figure out why it's burning rich? Is it fixable?

Is the check engine light on? It could be a carb issue. Is your engine in good tune? Ignition, timing, valve adjustment etc.

Now that you mention it, the CEL doesn't come on during ignition. Never noticed that before. Checking codes tomorrow morning; should be fun. Will report back. Found this though: maybe the reason is a disconnected sensor? Tried to get two shots of it: imgur.com/rx0azBmimgur.com/E7MJ8gN

Yeah, that's your O2 sensor. You need that, that's most likely your problem.
It looks like you might be able to get away with splicing the wire back together.

spliced O2 sensor, changed oil and filter today. Runs better but still some smoke. I'll clean up the 02 and replace the PCV valve tomorrow and see how it runs.
