I'm thinking it is probably a safe bet to go ahead and replace the fuel pump in my '88 carbureted justy
The pumps on rock auto look nothing like the original, so I was wondering if anybody has experience with a FP from them? Is it a direct replacement, or do they have to be modified or anything of that nature?
Thanks

I feel obligated to mention the carbureted Justy's suffered from bad fuel pump modules which would run the pump and reduced to zero voltage if they failed. You should check the power to the pump with it plugged in and make sure it's the same as battery voltage.

Well you see, I don't think my fuel pump is bad, but it does have 266,xxx miles on it. So it's more of a preventative measure

Personally, I wouldn't replace the stock pump unless it fails. You can't beat the oem subaru parts. It wouldn't hurt to have a back up though.
I'm afraid I'm not much help on the rock auto pumps, it's one of the few things I haven't messed with.

The low-psi pump for the carb motors is pretty much indestructible. If you want another one I have the one from my car.

I got mine from rock auto. I have MPFI.
If you are looking for the best brand, get a Delphi fuel pump. Delphi is quiet, low heat, low amp draw, and last long.
Sometimes the picture are not right, but take the part number and do a google search to double check.

I replaced mine from ebay. Look there as they are cheaper, and make sure it looks exactly like yours. If it doesnt show a photo in either Rock or Ebay, dont buy it.

for an efi car, fuel pumps are pumps. they are pretty universal. just dont get a walbro or something like it because they are ridiculously noisy. you dont think it will bother you but it will...trust me. zzzz zzzzz zzzzz zzzzz zzzz all friggin day long.
carb pumps are only about 3-5psi at max. its just to keep the bowl filled. id almost consider a pump off the "HELP!" rack at the local auto parts house.
