Hey yall- I'd been toying with the idea of getting a Chevy Sprint, Suzuki Swift, or Geo Metro to slap on a IHI RB51 from the my dead Maserati Bitrouble. I came across the following ad on CL: I traded the following firearms for it: Jimenez JA-Nine - 9mm pistol Marlin 60 - .22 rifle Ruber 10/22 - .22 rifle I only had about $180 in cash in them all. This was her the morning after I brought her home. She had 3 different size wheels - 12" on the front, 13" on rear passenger side, and space saver spare on the rear drivers side. A friend traded me a new 13" tire on a Sentra steelie he had for my space saver spare and $20. I went to PnP and picked up some items: 3 - 13" Steelies w/really good tires. Rear seat bottom Hatch Trim Cam for turn signals Turn signal housing/lens I now have matching tires per axle with good tread all the way around. The plan is to get ~120hp, stiffen the suspension a bit, and have a blast while getting decent mpgs. I had to modify the front hubs to get a smaller center bore to fit the Saturn wheel on the front. The Hyundai wheels on the back required me to remove the dust caps over the wheel bearings. So I used some aluminium foil to keep the wheel bearings clean, you can make out the shiney aluminium in the current picture below. Here she is today: I've since replaced the radiator and I have the dog bone torque mount to replace as well. So far I think this car is a blast. Some beefier anti-roll bars, turbo, megasquirt, and eventually some stickier tires and I think I'll love it.

Cool, looks like you basically saved that thing from it's former life of neglect. Keep us posted on the upcoming project! There is a really good thread of a guy who did MS/Turbo here. Best of luck Terry

Some updates:
I changed the head gasket and front cam seal to fix a pretty prodigious oil leak, only to find the crank seal is leaking as well, just not nearly as bad as the other two.
I'm averaging just under 33 mpg - though this might soon drop a bit because of the next item.
I vacuumed down the a/c Monday evening and left it sitting for a couple of days, still have >30" of vacuum, I charged it with R134a today and am getting 40F with a 85F ambient. yay!
I tinted the passenger side front window today, as the old tint was peeling bad. We'll see in a few days if I did an OK job.
I'm off to find a better drivers seat sometime this week, the foam is collapsed and wrecking my back.
This car is alot of fun, I'll see over the next week or so how much fun and mpg the a/c zaps from her.
