i bought a justy the other day. it is a 1990 3 door. it had been changed from ecvt to manual 5 speed. but the 4wd is not connected. the wires from the button end on the passangar floor with a 3 pin plug (above carpet), the vaccum pipe also leads nowere (there is another line with a screw in the end hanging from the engine near the pipes: maybe that is the vacc from the engine?) the 3 wires coming from the "valves" (that the vaccum pipe should lead to. should there be 4 wires?) have been cut. do you guys have any tips on connecting everything correctly or identifying the wires and pipes.
also how can i know what engine i have now. it looks like a justy engine. 3 cylender and a subaru plastic topcover. i hope it is a 1200cc. is it a possibility i do not have a 4wd gearbox?

i finally found a way to take pictures, get them on my computer and post them here. first is the button the tube. the smooth one in the middle of the image just has a screw in the other end. i was wondering if it was the vaccum from the manifold. here you can see the electirical connection to the solenoid. three wires cut. they should connect to the button should they not? at the bottom is the one way airflow valve inline. the vaccum should connet there right?

Well, it looks like your problem is both electrical and mechanical. Why? First off, your button isn''t connected. Find its mating connector, if you can. You also have to fix that cut-off wiring in the engine bay, and connect the hose to the solenoids again. After you're done testing, check that the hoses from the solenoids to the gearbox is connected properly.

Oh, and happy new year.

finally i have gotten back the motivation to do something to my car. but i still need some info. if i understand the solenoid right it controlls vaccum "flow". and the 4wd is either the upper or lower one? also is the solenoid positive or negative switched. or is the 4wd button in the power into the power or on the way back? (either way will work i guess, but subaru did it one way for some reason probaply) where is a good safe place to splice into for the power to the solenoid?
i think i have sorted out the hoses.
as for the rest. it drives fine. still has no windshield becouse it is still a bit out of shape.

Thank you. That is exactly what i need.
some bad news though. the body is not realy fixable, these little thing probaply were not made to be rolled. but i will be searching for a "new" shell and swap over to that, so probaply the diagram may yet come to good use. if anyone here is on Iceland you have a justy with a not fixable engine but a good body i'm interested in buying it.

There are or have been over the last 4 years or so atleast 4 members here that live in Iceland! these little things are around. there are like 8 of these driving daily in my area of 20.000 people. a few years ago you could buy a driving one for "a shit on a stick"(icelandic expression). but now the are sought after winter cars, making them three times more expensive since 6 years ago. i learned the other day that my postman has a bunch of these, but sadly none of what i need.
