Ok so hopefully as you read this you decide not to flame me. I have a Geo metro and was told by a friend about the Subaru Justy! So I'm thinking "4WD?!?! That's awesome!" I have been reading around on the forum about Justy's and what people do to fix them up. As you can assume I grew curious about the power potential of these little cars. Which lead me to a site called Dusty Justy >> www.dustysjustys.com/performance.htm << on the site it explains how Justy transmissions and differentials can't handle much over 150 WHP they explain the synchro's and differential are weak. So after contemplating about if I could be happy with 4WD with about 2x the power of my Geo I decided the Justy really wasn't what I was looking for. But after a day or two of not reading on this forum (no life all I do is think about cars) I couldn't get the idea of Justy's out of my head. I found myself conflicting my own thoughts like "oh they can't be soup'd up that much" "who cares! stock is still more than the Geo plus with 4wd you can get Geo mpg but have fun at autocross" or "they are too boxy looking!" "dude then it be super sleeper people would see it and think nothing of it and you wouldn't have to worry about people trying to steal it". And here I am back to the forum, contemplating about the synchro and differential dilemma. So I did what anyone does when you can't seem to figure out a problem by yourself. I asked my dad who has been ASE Master Certified for almost 20 years, and enjoys making custom performance parts as a hobby for his Datsun 240z. He suggested finding what size synchro and differential the Justy uses and see if any other vehicles used the same size. So I have been searching all day trying to find any information on the synchro ring and I can't seem to find none. Not even tranny rebuild kits. So I suppose my question is has anyone found a solution to the stock Justy gearbox and differential not being able to handle higher power problem? If so could you direct me the the thread because I can't find it. Thank you for your time and patience.
Sincerely, An Eager Justy Fan

When it comes to transmissions and drive train, it all depends on how you use it, if you are mostly going off road, then I don't see them being much of a problem.
On the other hand, 150 bhp in a 770 kg Justy is a LOT.

Thank you for replying I understand 150 bhp is way more than I'd need I was just curious if anyone found any solutions to the synchro/differential dilemma. Thanks again for throwing in you 2 cents realistically I will be just getting it and justy trying to get the engine to run excellent, then invest in suspension and take it to local autocross, and track days. and possibly in the faaaaaar future a turbo for more umph once I've mastered driving it with stock power

None, except I don't have an air filter, since the one that came with the car made it idle at 400 rpm... New K&N is on the way via mail.....
I have done other mods like:
1. Extra set of High Beams. 2. Ok sound system. 3. Eliminated rattles with some asphalt plates/sound proofing.
I haven't had the chance to do any performance mods yet..

It doesn't take much to give it that "Rally" look.... I've got some new Bosch headlight inserts for the Justy on the way, and I'm thinking of a 168w LED bar on the roof.
