its never had a cat since i have owned it i have now known the car since 1995 when it was bought from a subaru dealer and it was running fine then I should have been more specific. I meant the pre-cat attached to the exhaust manifold. From your responses it's obvious you haven't done anything to it, but you might want to check it's condition with all that extra fuel dumping through.

Either that or get a Weber. You might check the duty solenoid in the carb to see if it's working. It modifies the air/fuel ratio. Do you have both of the vac cans on the distributor hooked up?

So let me make sure I am understanding the situation...You pulled the carb, did a freshen-up on the engine, re-installed the carb and then it started dumping fuel. Is that correct? Did you adjust the carb at all? Fast idle perhaps? If you can get a hold of some compressed air that often helps where carb cleaner alone fails. I also use some fine guitar string to physically ream the small holes in the emulsion tubes and various jets. It's obvious you have a major carb issue, you could have easily dislodged sediment when you pulled the carb and it got pulled into some of the fine circuits, so you're going to have to get meticulous with a clean and rebuild.
