Hello i'm new to this. I have a 1993 subaru justy. Recently when i push the button to get out of 4wd it has been sticking and staying in 4wd...any suggestions on what could be wrong?

There are 2 solenoids mounted side by side on the firewall towards the passenger side, they control the 4wd system and one of them has likely failed. There is a single vacuum line that splits into two and feeds the one side of each solenoid, and two separate lines coming out. Try switching those out-going lines and seeing if it comes out of 4wd (It should disengage with the 4wd button on).
If that doesn't work it could be the actuator on the trans.

I had this happen just as I was leaving the woods some months ago and after much mucking about, came up with the same fix Armageddous suggested. It worked perfectly, when you "engage" the 4wd it will disengage the shift collar and the light will go out. I then unplugged the hoses again, disengaged the 4wd button, and put the hoses back where they were supposed to go. Will likely have to replace the VSVs/solenoids as I believe my 4wd disengage solenoid (and probably yours, since it went into 4wd fine) is defective.

I have a similar problem, in my case (Justy GL II 1993), the 4WD is stuck (Electrically is OK, the lights respond to the botton). I have already disconnected the vacuum tubes but the car won't return to 2WD. If you could give some advice and send me a pic of the parts I have to check it would be great! Thanx!

Unless someone has monkeyed with your electrics, the lights are not activated by the button. There is a switch in the transmission that is closed when 4wd is activated, causing the light to go on. If the light goes on and off, the solenoids are working, and the 4wd should be going in and out of gear. Simply removing the vacuum lines will not disengage the 4wd, it must be pulled with vacuum, so the trick for failed solenoids is to pull a vacuum on the "other side" of the dashpot. In the voice of Mr. Miyagi "vacuum on, vacuum off" I'm pretty sure... to disengage, vacuum needs to be applied to the outer tube (looking down at the 4wd actuator you will see two hoses on each side of the dashpot).
