Hello Justy-lovers!
Found another thing to write a guide about, since my rear window heater doesn't work, so I removed the switch to see if it was broken.
The switch was fine, but the lights inside were dead.
The switch share socket with the rear fog light switch, and this light were dead too, so to gain anything from the situation, here's a guide on how to replace the lights for the switches themselves.
I would imagine the procedure to be about the same for the hazard-switch, so this will not be treated in this guide.
(Vehicle used is a 1989 Gen 2 Justy).
Right!
Start off by pulling the switch socket straight outwards, with some up/down jiggle if you have to. Do not pull the wires excessively.
Separate the harness connector by pressing the tab down and pulling the switch socket from the connector (not the other way around, since the play in the harness wires are low.)
Before going further, secure the harness connector to the dash by twisting it gently to make the connector itself hold against the hole in the dash, or use some tape.
ATTENTION! Do NOT try to disassemble the switch itself, or you may have to spend hours putting it back together. (Speaking from experience...)
Here's where the tools come in.
You need a 5 mm flat screwdriver, a pincette (word?) and maybe a set of angled radio pliers, preferably with teeth in the jaws.
Insert the screwdriver into the grove of the lights (somewhat dark brown colour) and turn about 1/4 turn.
This is where the fun (?) begins... Use the pincette to get the light out.
After getting it out just a bit, you can use the radio pliers teeth to grab hold of the light.
Got'cha! All done!
Just like in my guide about the heater control light, perfectionists use some oxidization remover spray on the contacts, wait a few minutes, then put some WD40 (or equivalent) on for protection.
The bulb itself seem to be a T5 Neo wedge, but not sure.
As with the heater control light, I recommend you install a LED variety bulb.
Replace the bulb and reinstall the switch socket in reverse order of removal.
Request a mod to move this to the Guides-section and make it sticky, please.
