Howdy! My fuel door lock has failed. This happened on both my Justys so I assume it's fairly common. Also, I really don't have a "good" key for my car. I have an original Subaru key with the code on it which is nice, but I went to my local Subaru dealer and that sucked. Using the code, the guy couldn't cut a key that worked on my car. The whole experience was pretty bad but I guess that is beside the point. ANYWAY - I asked if they had those black rubber-handled keys that said "SUBARU" on one side and had the emblem on the other. NOPE, can't get those anymore. Okay, so I ordered a lock for the flapper door (after hearing that Subarus don't have those, and then hearing that I drive an old shitty car...) Okay whatever, I ordered a new lock cylinder for the flapper door and it came with - you guessed it - two really nice perfectly cut new keys with codes, and - the black rubber handles! So, since the folks at the Subaru dealer are consistently retarded, is there any other way around this? I mean, could I get a new ignition cylinder and door cylinders that are coded to this new key? That would be stellar. I also went to a locksmith and heard something something old car something something. And then I walked out and saw someone driving a 1967 Lincoln. The nerve!!!! Hahaa... Anyway. Any help would be appreciated!

I dont know if this will help at all, but recently i lost my car key in a taxi in NYC. Since the car was parked in NYC I had to call AAA to come to my rescue. 75.00 later (AAA ate the 1st 100 bucks) I had two functional keys that operated the entire car. It was amazing, and actually disturbing, to watch a locksmith make a key for my car in ten minutes.
A good locksmith can do this.

That would work for me, but the problem is that I cannot seem to find these blanks any more. So what I need is basically the opposite - I have two keys and a lock for my gas door, and I would like to make it so that these same keys also operate both door locks, the ignition and the rear hatch. Sounds stupid I know, but I really like the black rubber OEM Subaru key.

EBay maybe? they come up from time to time. Once you get a working key it is no biggie to make them
