Hi all, I have an '88 5 speed as my daily driver. I also have a '91 automatic as a parts car.
Question: Can I swap the '91 alternator into the '88? The plug is different but still just a two wire. The case looks the same. I realize I would have to change or adapt the plug. Will I blow something if I try it?
TIA, Daniel

The '91 car alternator is higher amperage then the 88. I can't remember the exact specs, it's something like 60a and 80a, so you will need to change the fuse for the alternator to accept the higher amperage.
Take both alternators out and look at the back of the case where the plug goes, there should be some markings that indicate which terminal does what. If you're lucky, they will use the same abbreviation and wiring will be simple.

I have an 88 justy n my alternator keeps blowing. I fixed some wiring and picked up a 86 mazda alternator, both made by mitsubishi, same plug but if look straight down on alternator pulley facing up the mounts are wider, just got make up another braket but not sure on amperage
