This is our 1986 Subaru GL Hatchback 4wd stick. Just got it a few days ago. It only has 37k original miles! The guy we got it from was the second owner. He bought it at an estate sale. It needs to be cleaned up a bit, but I have never seen one in this kind of shape. I will add some pics of the engine soon. I plan on keeping everything stock. I will be adding a new gas tank soon because, as you can see, the previous owner was using a fuel cell instead. No changes, just some cleaning up on it. I can't wait to see how it handles in some bad weather. I like to think of it as the big older brother to my Justys! Let me know what you guys think.
You totally scored! I am so jealous. I drive an '81 Hatch (289,000 miles). They are awesome. You are going to love that car. You should definitely post on the Ultimate Subaru Message Board, just beware of the drool you will generate. Need some engine pics. Congratulations
Awesome thanks for the comments! The '81s look really cool. When I found this for sale on craigslist only about 90 miles away, I had a hard time containing myself. I was using a site called crazedlist.org that lets you search multiple areas at the same time on craigslist. Other than the face that I love Subarus, this vehicle is perfect for me and my family. We live way out in the country and everything is an hour or more drive. We also need something with 4wd because of the conditions. Cars like this work great because we get the 4wd and good fuel efficiency. Everywhere I go in my Justy, people are fascinated by it! I will post it on the ultimate subaru message board and i'll get some engine pics up soon! Thanks again!

Congrats now lift it, lol
But on a serious note that is a very good find. I have been searching for an old GL hatch for some time now, but I want one all smashed and dirty to go trailing "my" style, lol. Treat it well, they are becoming very hard to find clean like that.
Thanks Jamie! I am jealous when I see how many fellow Subie fans there are out West. I wish there were more of us in my area, Ohio. I know there are some, but not like in your area. If I found a GL that was more beat up, I would definitely life it. This one is in such good shape that I don't think I would be able to do it. I almost want to hide it away in my garage! Almost every person I talk to in our area doesn't understand why I would want a car like this. Then they go and spend 40k on a new truck! I don't get it. Thank you for the comment and I will get some engine pics up very soon.
justytrudeau: Anyone put LED's in their instrumental panel? I have to remove the whole dash to get to 'em, figured it'd put off having to do it again by a few years.

Justy1200cc: bredmirror, if you do it you would need the suzuki transmission. I think it's searchable on the forum for more details

bredmirror: Thats what Im planning to do. However, if the engine and the transmission won't fit then Im just gonna upgrade the stock engine and get a tubo kit for it.

justytrudeau: Just replaced my headlights with LED's as well as all my dashboard instrument cluster. None of them work, and now my taillights have gone out too. Likely wiring issue, eh?

91justy4wdshea: Just got a Justy for $100, did a lot of research about the issue, which was just one day it just stopped moving although started and ran fine. I then discovered it was driving just only in 4wd. I think I need new hubs. Anyone got any for sale.

Arch: Anyone know where I can get a left front cv axle for a 1987 Justy? The only ones I can find (don’t ask me how I know) are for the later equal length years. I have scoured the ‘net for it, none available. Thanks in advance.
