Hey guys, figured I would post up about my first rallyX last weekend. I have literally grown up autocrossing, but RallyX is a whole new animal to me, and I figured I had to try it since the Justy seems perfectly suited for the sport. I learned a lot, thats for sure. Its a different type of racing, but it still require a lot of the same skills/tricks to drive fast as autoX. One thing I really struggled with during the day was trying to keep up with the sluggish ratio of the manual steering rack. I really worked on looking ahead, as I do feel that was part of the reason I was falling so far behind on my inputs. Here's a couple pics of me in action: Also got some footage with my Gopro, first video is an in car shot, you can really see me at work trying to keep up with the steering: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojI3cncR1MsNext video is my last and best run: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQMctgSN7n4Final video is a compilation of all my runs: www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8o-zhsSbr0Fell free to leave any comments or questions!

Good to see a fellow justy rallyxer, ice racing is also a blast in a justy if you get the chance.
About the steering rack, I've heard the gen 1's had a faster ratio and I've always wondered if they'd swap over. Might be a good solution for you.

If thats the case with the gen 1 racks, I would definitely love to try it, however I have a feeling getting ahold of one of them won't be easy for me being in the Midwest. Another solution a friend mentioned to me was to use a quickener, which is something i may have to try, i had never heard of them before. I definitely want to try ice racing if we have an event up here. Thats not to say that I won't do my fair share of sliding around this winter as is.

I don't know where in the UP you are but there are ice races in Eagle River and Hustisford WI, Eagle River shouldn't be to much of a drive for you. www.w-a-g.org/Where do you rallyx at?

lol I'm from Houghton, going to school at M. Tech. I had heard of ice races in Eagle River, didn't know if they still do them. Eagle River is only 45 minutes away, so that would be awesome! I may have to try that group in WI too, really sounds like a lto of fun. I keep in touch with the car club at Northern in Marquette, and I know they want to do an ice race as well if they can find a location.
We started a car club at Tech this year and held a rallyX this past spring at the Gay stamp sands (Gay Michigan). This one was at the Moyle gravel pit in Houghton, right across the road from the first two stages of LSPR.
