Hi, Please can somebody help me with the location of the ECVT brushes on my Mother1992 4WD Justy so that I can check their condition. I have read that they are situated under the starter motor but I don't know really what I am looking for! Thanks

If you remove the starter there is a little panel with 2 screws holding it on and a black wire coming off it, this is the brush holder. Merely remove the 2 Phillips screws and pull the brush holder straight out. I've attached a photo from my ECVT where the starter and brushes are already removed, but I highlighted in red, the location where the brush holder inserts into. Sorry about the other hose being in the way. Attachments:

To kd7iwp, Thanks for your help, I removed the brush holder and one of the brushes was either worn or broken down at the base of the holder, I obtained some similar sized brushes from an auto electrician and fitted them. The ECVT is now working fine. Thanks for your help Bruce

I'm happy to hear it! I wish it were that simple for mine I just removed the engine and tranny last weekend so that I can take it apart and see why the car doesn't want to move.

I was curious if the hose to the right of the red mark, is the vent hose?

I'm not sure, I've got the engine and transmission sitting on the floor in my garage, if I remember, I'll go out and see what hose that is and let you know.

Yes, that is the breather hose to the right of the brush hole. It merely is draped over the transmission and hangs over the rear.
