I have everything un hosed, unbolted and unwired from the engine, and the good ol three banger unbolted from the fwd tranny, but the moror wont budgr from the tranny. My hope was to pop the engiene out without taking that tranny out with it, what else is holding the motor on, or is the gasket just sealing it together real well?

The engine is usually held by three of the four mounts. There is one at the top of the engine, one at the timing belt housing and one under the engine as well as the tranny mount. I suspect the one that you have not yet pulled or found is the one under the engine holding the engine to the crossmember (or engine support). The bolts go into the cross member and need to be pulled and the engine lifted to release the mount.
