So, I put brighter, whiter bulbs in the headlights(helped lighting a ton). Later I installed the extra driving lights. They have 5 amber led's in them that I wired as replacement of the original signal. The concept is great but they are not very bright or visible with the lights on, so... I wired in the corner driving light because a: I didnt think it was necessary when the headlights are on and b: it was an easy placement for a second signal marker. I put an led to brighten up the corner lamp as well. Today I installed a 3000k HID kit into the driving lights I installed earlier! WOW, super bright!!! Tell me what you think? Feel free to ask questions. Im sure some may not like it, but Im going for originality and uniqueness. edit: wiring for the signals (red and green power, black ground, white box is a resistor to slow the led blink to normal speed) as for more safety I installed a stebel compact nautilus air horn! WOOT WOOT! awesomemc.com/images/snh-01.jpg-Tbagg

Brighter is not better/more safe in my opinion. People drive newer cars with brighter lights faster and are left with just as short of a interval in which to react. If our Justys are on the road long enough, one day we will all need brighter lights just to see where we are going against oncoming traffic.
Your lights look good. How about some pictures of the wiring/modifications in addition to the appearance of the finished mod.? Personally I would wire it so that the headlights go off when the fog lights come on. Are you going to make an changes to the rear lights to make yourself more visible?

Living where street lights are not on every road and wildlife hazards are common. It is more safe with extra visibility. You do have a good point with the newer cars having more powerful lights. I agree the Justy can use some extra light to push past oncoming traffics' beam. I will take more pics of the wiring of the fog lights and corner marker wiring. Maybe the HID ballast wiring if I can get a decent shot. Today should be nice enough. Its been raining more often... bleh. -T

Nice solution for the back roads. I've been thinking about switching to Philips Night Guides. What bulbs did you use?

No....its not all that bad. I aimed them low but they do go wide even though the reflectors are designed to be narrow driving lights. As many believe, HIDs cause bad glair but they dont in every application. If they were put in the headlights, Im sure there would be issues. A guy up the street has HIDs in his old legacy wagon headlights and it doesnt have too bad of glare. Maybe its more of an opinion than science. -T

That air horn is a nice product - I installed the same unit on my '91 Honda CB-750. As long as you run good quality wiring it should last a long time.

Im sorry you dont like my lights seattle... I can tell you are a hardcore purist! What would you expect people to do for more light? -T Ahhhhhh, now we are getting down to the heart of the matter. You see, don't think people need to do anything for more light. The Justy came standard with two headlamps. I have never not been able to see while driving at night. When there is a sign warning of animals or if I feel there may be animals, I slow down as you are supposed to. When there is fog, I use only low beams and slow down. When it is very dark, I use high beams. When it is dark and raining at the same time, I slow down as is required by law. I have never hit an animal and I have never had a close call due to my vehicle having insufficient light and that includes the wilds of NorCal in my 1972 Ford Capri. I am however blinded to the point of danger almost weekly (3 times a month/average) byeither oncoming vehicles with aftermarket blue headlights or else SUVs or Imprezas with ditch lights in my reaar view mirror. I can dim the RVM but I cannot dim the side mirror. Funny, these lights get brighter but my rates still go up. Seems like deaths aren't on the decrease.

so are you gonna run some sort of backup power to light the HIDs up? Spare battery perhaps? Talk about serious offroad lighting! -T
