So,
This is my 1991 Justy GL. I've had it for about 7 months now. It's a great little car. I really wish there was something newer, and just like it!
I have a 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser that gets around 11mpg in the city. Hey, it gets 15 on the highway though! (And that's after years of working on it and getting it running smooth)
I got a job that required 50 miles of driving a day. Land Cruiser + long commute + expensive gas=not a good equation. SO, I started looking at economical, smaller cars. I liked the Golf, maybe a Loyale, and then I saw the Justy!
I kept an eye on Craigslist and Autotrader, but no luck. Then I drove by the local car lot, and saw the Justy tucked in the back. I hopped in, checked it out, and found the previous owners info in the glovebox. I called him up and found out it had a newer timing belt, clutch, and CVs. He had to sell it as his wife wouldn't let him keep it, and his daughter didn't want it! He said I should buy it!
I've replaced lots of little things, and done the usual tune-up type stuff. All new coolant hoses, thermostat, cap, plugs, wires, rotor, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, engine oil, new stereo, etc. I even scored a front swaybar, rear parcel shelf, spare tire and some other bits from the local pick-n-pull. I should've just bought a parts car!
My Justy has a "Mt. Hood Meadows Official Ski Car" sticker. I can only guess it was parked next to the lifts back in the 90's.
These pics are from a trip to it's ancestral birthplace at Mt. Hood Meadows, OR. I've done the trip twice now to go snowboarding, and the Justy performed very well. The drive from Portland to Mt. Hood Meadows has a 4500 vertical foot elevation gain over 70 miles, with most of it in the last 20! The Justy did good! It's a blast to drift in snowy lots.
