well i supose i had best do an update!! MAJOR PROGRESS has been made this last week with more to come (hopefully) very quickly!!
as far as the car goes, i have had all sorts of problems, some of which have still not been fully solved. as you may have read, i had a problem with what i thought was a wheel bearing, it turned out to be he driveshaft which is still squeeking now.. although i have a solution. The alternator died on me, turned out to be an expensve part to get hold of in the uk, worked out about the equivalent of $180!! i have also had the bottom spring cup on my passenger side shock absorber snap off! so i sourced a second hand shock and spring for about 40$
as far as modifications go, i have fitted a push button start, and fan and ignition switch in place of the centre heater vents, this meant i had to remove he dashboard to modify the heater ducts. if anyone is thinking of removing the dash in a justy DONT unless you really have to, what a pain in the ass of a job!
The best news though, i have found my parts car!! it is a dark grey, gen2 91 1.2 carb 4wd ecvt 5 door. the ecvt box is broke so the car hasnt moved for 18 months, although it is damn good condition, it even has a full subaru service history, my van did when i bought it, strange how people take such old cars back to subaru and pay a small fortune for a service when you can do it yourself in under an hour, at about $45 for a basic service! its cost me just under $100 which i was very pleased with considering it is over $300 for a new driveshaft!!! just need a mate to trailer it back for me now which should be one night this week. it was lucky i found it actually, i took my car into the local exhaust manufacturers for a quote on a manifold and exhaust to turbo it, and the bloke says "my grans got one of these sat on her drive, you can buy it if you like" i could have kissed him!!
so, the future... as soon as the car is back, i wll be removing the engine, suspension, drieshaft and fuel tank, and maybe the seats, mine might hav to be borrowed for a rally car me and a mate are building to compete next year. i will then, hopefully be able to get mine through an MOT, and then do the same sort of thing Dunk is doing with his turbo. ideally the parts car would have been FI as i wanted to ru megasquirt, but beggars cannot be choosers!!
Anyhow, enough of me rambling on, updates whith pictures later this week!!

I believe the base unit came with carb until 93, when all were FI.

im not sure about the U.K. seems to be 91 onwards could be either FI or carb. perhaps someone else has a brochure from europe? i keep seeing them on ebay but have never got around to buying one as my paypal account doesnt work following a disagreement with them (i lost nearly 200$ because i was a day late sending a parcel, bloke complained, i explained that the parcel would with him the next day, paypal said give it 7 days, an hour later i had another email saying they had refunded him his money and i owed them! i refused to pay, ended up with debt collectors on the phone and ended up having to pay!! theiving ba$tards)

Hmmm, the Subaru Justy parts manual has a part number listed for a carb up and including 1992. This is for the base 2wd DL model, so seems to line up with what I have read elsewhere on the web. SJ, you are basing your statement on?

I'm sure I speak for the lot of us Statesiders, including SJ, in saying that '90 - '94 ('94 being USA's last offering of the JUSTY) came srtictly EFI over here. I think generic tech spec sites like Edmund's will verify this. Cheers,

So not a lot of specs on the Edmunds site, but there was this comment regarding the 93 base model: What's New for 1993 The base Justy gets a larger engine that increases horsepower to GL standards. Pretty sure the engine didn't get larger, but an upgrade to FI would have upped the horsepower. Also found this: consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/1990-to-1994-subaru-justy.htmBy the way, didn't mean to hijack this thread, sorry bout that.

no problem scoobaru.
well i picked her up tonight, she is absolutely MINT, hardly a mark on her, the radiator is brand new, the exhaust is absolutely spotless, still silver, clean welds etc. no rust at all, i dont think i can bring myself to take her to bits, its unbelivable how good condition it is. its a real pity the ecvt is broke, although i dont know how it is broken, never realy looked into them. the battery was dead so i swapped it for the vans, she turned over but wouldnt start, not suprising though as it hasnt run for 18 months, ill have another play tomorrow night as i would like to have it running before i go further. has anyone any idea how much work i is to swap a manual gbox into it? i am realy tempted to keep this one and break the van for bits.
the millage is little over 62000 miles, with full subaru service history, and it looks like it has never been out in the rain!! will post up pics ASAP

congrats on your aquisition.Maybe you could fix the ecvt!. might be something simple like low auto.trans fluid, or a plugged filter,or worn out brushes which are easy to change under the stater!. Good luck I hate to see good cars broke up cause of an easy fix.

Well.... my driveway now looks like a junkyard!! i started at 4pm on friday, and in 4 hours, in the dark, i had the head off, manifolds off, alternator, starter motor etc. out again at 9.30 saturday morning, and managed to get the engine and g'box out, all the front suspension, driveshaft etc. and front half of the propshaft. and then all split up and away in the workshop. sunday it was raining, but i managed to get the rear diff, bottom arms, hubs, driveshafts, trailing arms, and rear half of the propshaft out, and drained the fuel tank, then i got fed up as i was soaking wet and freezing cold so i called it quits. just need to get the final 2 bolts out of the fuel tank, doorcards, as these ones are different to mine, and steering wheel as the clips on the back of my horn push are broken. then the shell is off to the crusher, unless anyone wants it? its not as mint as i first thought, needs a bit of welding, whereas mine has all been done. also a good condition full interior for sale in the uk?
will update with pics when i get home from work.

well she passed her MOT, (second tme! failed on the front wishbone?? bushes, i dont know the propper name, bolts to the bottom arm and stops the wheel boving backwards and forwards)
the donor car has been completley stripped and the shell crushed.
just in the process of swapping over bits like doorcards etc.
Future modifications:
a turbo, or any other engine mods are on hold for a while, me and a mate are building a rally car (Pugeot 205 1.4 xs) for next year so any spare cash is being ploughed into that. so for the moment it is small and cheep bits n bobs just to keep things moving along.
so... due to an accident the other night, where an impreza STI ploughed into all my mates cars, writing off 3 off them, and his own, putting 2 of my mates in hospital, one of which needed 6 hour surgery to repair a perforated bowel (he is on the mend though), bending a lamp post, and catching the front of my poor justy, i now have a scrape accross my bumper, which made me think.... Lamp pod! i want to build/buy and modify, a 4 lamp, fibreglass pod to sit infront of my grille mounted to the bumper. any tips, ideas etc.?
i am also going to try the cut springs as i have a full spare suspension setup, that should be done as soon as i have a free, dry day
Pictures soon!

thanks stacks
the other one is for battery cut off. there are 2 more for the same thing just beneath the windscreen on the passenger side.
the fire extinguisher oulets cover the entire car, designed to cover everything that can possibly burn!
the rear brake lines and the fuel lines run inside the car.

As of this morning, the Justy is no longer mine although all is not lost!, i have sold her to my brother with all the spare parts etc, so i can still take her out for a thrash every now and again picked up the towing vehicle last night - ford transit flareside 2.5 diesel its suprisingly nice, it has plenty of toys, 2 armrests so its like driving an armchair!!, not as much fun as the justy but only slightly slower.

its a quiet friday afternoon in work so i was having a look round the forum and thought i may aswell update this! New pickup and rally car are looking good then round 1: (copied from another forum) we finiished off prepping the car on thursday night, up bright and early trhe next day ready for a 5 hour plus drive over to manby showground in linconshire for the first round of the 205 1400 challenge. We arrived at about half 5, unloaded and went straight to scrutineering and noise check, which she flew through. we signed on and decided to pitch the tent. this is where it starts to go wrong the weather this weekend... not great couple that with a big open airfield not far from the coast and you have near gale force winds!!! 4 of us managed to get the tent up, tied to the side of the transit! got piss wet through in the process, and then decided to sleep in cars anyway as the tent didn'tlook like it was going to last the night went and got a chinease and a swift strongbow and an early (but very uncumfortable!) night up at half 6 saturday morning to drop the tent and get the transit back into the service area, final check over, re-fuel and decide on some tyre pressures and then out at 10.07 for the first stage we put in a respectable time, 4 seconds behing our closest rival, which wasnt bad considering our car kept jumping out of 2nd gear half way through chicanes!!! and we are running standard front suspension, the other lad is running bilsteins. 2nd stage: started out well, flying in fact then we got overtaken by a 1.9?? gti down one of the straights, who promptly spun infront of us!! we dodged past him and carried on down the back straight whith him in hot persuit, through the the 10inch deep water splash round a 90 right and 90 left, although we took these corners so well that we ended up carrying a lot more speed that we anticipated into the next chicane, drove staight over a truck tyre at 55-60mph whicyh sent us up into the air, landing on the roof, then sliding down the concrete for a bit on the drivers side then hitting the grass, flipping again and ending up on the roof in the middle of the field which resulted in this: So we are now building another one! Next round in 3 weeks!!!
