Dusty got back with me after his break. I had contacted him about some used mud guards for my Justy. He said he would give me a holler when he got back. He got back with me. Now my Justy has some great looking mud guards. He sold them to me for a great price and the shipping was very fast also. : )

In my opinion getting 120HP out of a 1.2L block NA is asking quite a bit. For a block this old, with virtually no technology, that's quite an accomplishment. I could see 150HP with a turbo MAYBE. 200HP would blow the hood off. Take a look at some of those videos on YouTube where they put NOS on a Geo Metro to see how much power it can take. That will give you an idea of our motor's limitations.

Well, this is looking good. I have to swap my Justy soon anyways, I might shoot him an email and get some info. I can order a stock engine with fuel injection with only 60,000kms on it through my dad for about 500$CAD, if I bought one of his short blocks I'd have to swap out the ECVT aswell, way too much work, but i may order some other things from him. I have found other performance parts for the Justy through vendors on toronto-subaru-club.com , all the parts that I've ordered so far are parts that work with every Subaru, example: lightweight crank pulley.

Nice!!! I exchanged a couple emails with him a while back as well - nice guy. He didn't seem to be really interested in working on anything not local though as he mentioned he wouldn't be able to help me much with the headwork or shortblock.
I agree that the prices are a little steep as I have had some of this work done before on cars with more pistons/16v heads, etc. Either way, seeing someone doing stuff for the Justy is really exciting.
I have wanted a Justy since I was a kid, and mine is the first one I have gotten to ride in and inspect. I was pretty impressed when I started learning more about the engine, nice aluminum SOHC 3V head, iron block, low compression ratio, Multi-port EFI w/ no MAF... Seems perfect to try a turbo job, though for my fairly restricted CA car, I would just like the following to be done:
Mild headwork including matching the intake to the head, find some different/lighter/stronger pistons, and find a way to raise the compression ratio very slighly. Not looking for 4WD burnouts - just would like to improve performance and efficiency.
Anyway, kudos to seattlejusty for answering everyone's q's about Dusty's Justys and kudos to Dusty for doing this in the first place! The next time I need a replacement part, I will check with him - too bad I did all the axles before I saw his page!

Too stoked to see someone has finally realised what an awesome machine is our beloved justy. I am going to be keeping an eye on the progress with dusty and if it pans out i will be having him build me a 200hp monster. I'm not at all worried about how much it costs either. I am in New Zealand and our mechanics basically just laugh me out of their workshops with comments like "why would you bother?".I showed one of them why when i blew his cooper s away in the wet in 4wd,it was so satisfying.Anyhow, very exciting. Cheers seattlejusty

UPDATE: 6/8/2009:
Due to health problems and a slumping economy Dusty's Justys has been purchased by VISS Performance, Inc. VISS Performance specializes in Volvo, Isuzu, Saab, & Subaru which should make us feel right at home. VISS Performance are authorized distributors for many different product lines, and offer the same level of experience, automotive expertise, and customer satisfaction that we strive to achieve. This site will be temporarily shut down during a short transitional period while our webpage is updated, and a few changes are made. Don't worry, we will be back this fall better than ever, with more new products and more aftermarket brands to offer. Not to mention I will still be here as much as possible, being manager of their Subaru division, (and this part of the business will still be my baby)! :-) Check back with us this fall for a new look and more products, it should prove to be very exciting, so keep those Justys running till we get back!!! Thank You - D.B.
