This random guy emailed me today and was wondering where I could get parts, and I told him to call me. He wrote back and said he did not have a phone, but the local dealership said they were $250. Is that ridiculous?

All the parts stores I've been to gave me numbers around there as well. One of them said 190 for a pitchstop mount.

Thats a really good question haha. The guy and the parts counter and I both started laughing, and thats why I'm going the boat trailer roller route for my busted pitch stop.

Hell, I don't know what I mean. "Dog-bone" is a shape. "Pitch-stopper" is a function. We're talking about the same piece, right? What you're telling me is that the picture above is a GenI with one end of the bone adjustable and detachable. That's all I've ever seen. TreadBear is looking for a part for his '90 so it must be the one-piece-GenII-style dog-bone that he needs, and not what he asked for in the diagram above?
TreadBear, try also searching dog-bone and bone. Good luck.

Interesting - that is correct - the Gen 2 is one piece - so you would have to replace the whole thing. In any case - check this out - another "getto fix" for the forum! Thanks for everything - I have been able to fix all of my issues - including the air intake - after consulting this forum - awesome!
Here's what I did for the pitch stopper/dog bone/dinosaur bone thingy. In the center - you will see that there are three separate rubber pieces. I noticed that the center piece was about the same diameter as the rubber bushings I had laying around that went to a shackle on my suzuki samurai. Hmmmm. So I cut out the broken center piece and cut a little off off of the bushings so they fit snug (there are two on a shackle - one on each side - bolt goes through the center) - and just replaced the center piece with the two bushings.. Perfect!! Took ten minutes - no poly goo needed. It's solid and still allows a little movement. I have two extra bushings in case these wear out. Cheap fix! Try it out if you need that part...

I bought a new one from subaruparts.com for around $75. I would be curious to see if an Impreza pitch-stop is the same size - visually it looks to be so. Those can be had 12 for $.10 on Impreza forums since people like to swap in the STi GroupN versions. I had one but... I threw it out. Darn it.

Anyone know where I can get a "torque mount" - see #13 in the illustration: I found a pitch/torque stop link in a pick-lot recently but it really wasn't much better than the sloppy one that was on my car originally. I am now lookin to re-cut some unused polyurethane bushings to fit (leftover from my volvo project). My issue is mount pictured on the cross member, that lower mount is soft and squishy. I can reach in push and tug the trans and the whole drivetrain slides foward and aft a bit, I believe that this is what causes my shifter to pop out when in first gear. I inspected the spring-loaded steel balls (holding the shift links in position)internal to the trans and they were fine. It is when I roll in and out of the throttle (in 1st) you see a couple of inches (more than should be) of swing on the shifter then pop! It does this when I try to hold it in gear as well. It wasn't till inspecting/replacing the shift links that I stumbled upon the squishy lower mount. I can do it (pop out of 1st) with the engine off and the car in 1st gear just by reaching in and giving the trans a hard tug forward. As I was telling **stacks** before he dropped out, I just start in 2nd most of the time and avoid 1st unless needed on a hill (then I can only be on the throttle). Anyone find a good price for this lower mount please let me know, it has been my pick-lot mission to find one in good shape but this has not paid off yet. -RRJ

I bought the pictured #2 mount a while back to replace mine. You're not going to find a better one at the junkyard! They're all old and crappy. I was really concerned about it as driving in stop and go traffic kept jerking the tranny around. I fixed the pitching stopper/dogbone (#13) and the #5 passenger side mount with poly and that helped a lot. I since have changed out #5 back to the old one as the vibration was a bit much. I found another, better, job within bike distance, so this project was put on the back burner. So, I still have that part in a box, somewhere, and still need to install it! Beware, there is some confusion with ordering the mounts from 2wd to 4wd. An online Subaru parts place messed up my order, but made it right. I believe stacks had chimed in on this thread, but his posts are gone. There is still useful info, though: subarujusty.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=engine&action=display&thread=1197

Admittedly the prices in USA are higher then other places, even for genuine items (made in Japan ones). In Pakistan they make local copies of the most commonly used parts, although they may not last as long as the original nor perform the same, but usually they are a lot of improvement over the replaced one. If you people are interested I can send some items from here, then you may evaluate whether it is worth it or not. The number after # sign is the number in the above pictures. Lower Mount (#2) $10.00 Left/Right Mount bushing (#5,#6 both are same), just push out the old one and press in the new $5.00 ea Pitch Stopper/ Torque Damper(#13) $7.00 Now posting abroad for commercial reasons is a problem somewhat (because of some #@!% laws) but it can be arranged.
[Edit] The #5 for Gen II is different, it is $8 The lower mount (#2) available is the square one only, to swap it in place of round one the bracket from a Gen I would be needed (AFAIK).
